"I really enjoyed it, but it was difficult to live with a host mother. I never felt comfortable in my living situation. That was really the only downfall, and that can be easily fixed. I feel that the experience just reaffirmed my academic interests!"
Amanda K The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned what is is like to live in another English speaking country half-way across the globe. "
megan.castle.5 The University of Texas at Austin
"It was a worthwhile experience. I learned that I can function in a foreign country, on my own, after a bit of an initial shock. I also learned that I don't really have a lot in common with Japanese people."
Alexis V The University of Texas at Austin

"I think that if I didn't have this experience I would have wished I had and always wondered what it would've been like. But after actually going through it, I realized I could have lived without it. "
Sarah M The University of Texas at Austin
"It's a great way to learn to adapt. The university system is completely different in England and it was an adventure to learn how to deal with different circumstances. I would say any abroad program is worthwhile. You'll be put out of your comfort zone multiple times but at the end of it you'll be able to adapt to many things i..."

"Honestly haven't not improved my French and spent more money than I'd like to for a lesser educational experience I wouldn't do it again. Sure I learned cultural things but frankly, what good does that do me? Paris is cool and all until you have to literally pay for it everyday. The school and city are both wildly overrated in m..."
Hunter I The University of Texas at Austin
"Living in shanghai not only taught me that I want to live in Shanghai in the future, but it also taught me how to survive in a city that is not easily accessible to foreigners."
Lila B The University of Texas at Austin
"it was worthwhile but not because anything arcadia did. i gained a sense of independence on my own and adventuring to other countries really made me focus more on cultural differences and world issues outside the perspectives of my own countrymen. i plan on returning to europe when i can again and am really encouraged now to lea..."

"I have learned numerous things from my friends, not from my classes. "
Kyoung Jea L The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained proficiency in Portuguese and self-reliance. I've learned to live comfortably with little resources and now I have friends all over the world! "
Brittany C The University of Texas at Austin
"The experiences I gained as an actor made my experience worthwhile."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned I like America and people that speak my language and places that are efficient and friendly. I like to travel"
Liza G The University of Texas at Austin
"Although I gained internship experience while on the program, the experience in itself was not what I had expected it to be. I worked for a startup whose mission was very compelling to me, but because my boss was not very receptive of what I wanted to gain out of the internship, I was left doing busy work most of the time. I fee..."

"I wish that my expectations of the students had matched reality. The program itself was very good and rewarding, but the students and their behavior detracted from my experience. I definitely feel like my time in Athens and Greece was worthwhile and I learned a lot and got to do and see things that have changed my life, but I wa..."
Alyssa W The University of Texas at Austin
"The overall experience was worthwhile, it's what you put into it. I learned the significance of balancing outside life with school/program obligations"
Ryan T The University of Texas at Austin
"I gained a lot of knowledge and perspective from this program. I really enjoyed all of the lectures and planned activities, particularly meetings with community members and leaders. The program did not meet my expectation of being physically challenging, nor did it incorporate aspects of public policy and government issues as mu..."
Katherine L The University of Texas at Austin
"I expanded upon my political understanding of the world considering Canberra is the political heartbeat of Australia. Every embassy is located in Canberra, so it's quite a multicultural city. I learned a lot about Australia's political system and its two major parties and their views. Overall, my academic interests have remained..."
