"I learned to be more independent. I appreciate this experience because it helped me find my true academic passion which is film and media. I changed my major while I was abroad and have enjoyed my classes since that switch. "

"I learned to chill more. It has advantages and disadvantages."

"It was worthwhile. I gained much greater independence, improved my cooking skills, and generally learned how to navigate life in a huge city. "

"I learned about how ignorant I've been of Russian-speaking countries outside of Russia. Absolutely every single student learning Russian needs to learn about Central Asia and not just focus on Russia. I would recommend this program to someone who is focused on improving their Russian language skills and is OKAY with sacrificing ..."

"My language skills and language confidence both improved dramatically. I also had a lot of solo time to reflect on myself: my academic path, career future and personal goals. That being said, I wish that the program duration had not been a full 4 months/ had not lasted well into the summer. "

"I learned to live outside of America. "
A student Middlebury College
"I learned how to survive a lonely, difficult but rewarding period. Looking back, I got a great deal from the level of hard work I put in, but for my mental state it was not worthwhile."

"I learned some of the Moroccan dialect and about Moroccan culture. It was in some ways, in others--no."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned so much about myself and definitely felt as though I've grown as a person. Studying abroad was absolutely worthwhile. I'd recommend everyone to try it (just not at this school)."

"I learned how to write a better essay"
A student Middlebury College
"This experience was worthwhile. Even though it wasn't always the most carefree or fireworks amazing experience, I still met some great people and enjoyed my classes and feel like a part of the community. Most importantly though, it all depends on your outlook and how you approach the situation. If you wanna sit in your room and ..."

"So and so. It was a different experience than studying at my home institution, very challenging and I guess I feel good about myself, knowing that I managed to complete the work I was assigned every week. The tutorials of the program were very interesting: one-to-one with an Oxford professor and weekly discussions on the assigne..."

"I believe I was able to improve my listening and speaking during my time in Argentina. I’m not certain that my reading or writing have improved—at least in the academic sense. I also had the opportunity to explore myself as a person during hardships. "
A student Middlebury College
"I don't regret going, but it wasn't a transformative or important experience in my life. "
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a hell of a lot more about myself. I learned how to take care of myself in a foreign country, how to cook my own food, how to handle a trip, etc. I came back a very different person, for the better I think, even if I didn't particularly enjoy my semester"
A student Middlebury College
"I got to experience a new city, which was a good experience and not one I would have been able to have otherwise. Academically and professionally I did not gain much."
A student Middlebury College
"Improved my language skills quite a bit but otherwise got little to nothing out of the experience academically. Probably worthwhile "
A student Middlebury College
"I learned that I should stick with my gut and work harder to advocate for myself. I had heard bad reviews of the program and was hesitant to go, so I advocated for myself but was not listened to. I was disappointed and felt that I was robbed of an experience. "
A student Middlebury College
"I gained fluency in Spanish"
A student Middlebury College
"I grew as a person during my Study Abroad and I am grateful for what I was able to experience."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a lot about the Pacific communities and the ways Samoa has changed over time. I learned about indigenous ways of living. I also gained new perspectives about religion, resilience, and social change. "
A student Middlebury College
"I learned a lot during my time abroad. I learned a lot about being independent, assimilating to a different culture, and figuring out how to stay motivated and make the most of things despite some really difficult circumstances. "
A student Middlebury College
"I gained a lot of language acquisition and challenged myself in so many ways. It was very difficult but rewarding."
A student Middlebury College
"Worthwhile because it rekindled my love of America by making me experience a different country."
A student Middlebury College
"I think I grew a lot as a person because I was alone a lot and had to create my own happiness many times. I definitely learned some about the host country, but I do not think it changed any of my interests/plans/awareness."
