"I learned a lot about myself as well as French/European culture. It was absolutely worthwhile and I would do it again."
A student Middlebury College
"It was worth living in another culture"
A student Middlebury College
"I loved living in Denmark. I definitely see my home and life in the US from a different perspective after being abroad. I would love to do it again but would prefer a program with more integration."
A student Middlebury College
"Yes, it taught me to be independent and I really liked the classes. "
Olivia H Middlebury College
"Absolutely worthwhile; I learned so much about myself, the places I was, and the subject matter of the program - however, this was largely due to my own personal drive/choices and the amazing students I was surrounded by rather than program-specific classroom time."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned about the history, politics, structure, operations, and tactics of labor unions in New York City; a topic I knew very little about prior to this experience. I am now considering a returning to New York to seek employment for a labor union after I graduate and Union Semester gave me the connections to do so. I was worth..."

"YES. I'm so much more independent and aware of my emotions/reactions to things. Senegal often challenged my preconceived notions and certainly taught me a lot about Islam. I now feel like Americentric; I know what at least one lifestyle outside the US is and the ways in which its superior and inferior to living in America. "
Emily D Middlebury College
"Yes, and I learned how to be much more independent. "
A student Middlebury College
"I would say more confidence to speak in English. I was very timid in Spanish due to my language ability."
A student Middlebury College
"I learned more about myself, my passions, my strengths, and my needs. It was nice learning how to thrive in a foreign environment, and to do something out of my comfort zone. More than academic or social experiences, I think the personal experience of going through this process helped me grow a lot as a person."
A student Middlebury College
"A love of writing and travel - yes."
A student Middlebury College
"I was able to travel to numerous cities outside of the Netherlands and learn about different cultures."
A student Middlebury College
"I gained more self-confidence in my ability to be independent. I gained a sense of what life post-college will be like in terms of preparing mills and scheduling myself, etc. I learned that everyone's experiences are necessarily different because of things like money or resources, but that everyone can still get a lot out of the..."
Steven K Middlebury College
"I learned so much -- I got to travel to so many amazing places, learn a lot about Scandinavian culture, speak a little Danish, and enjoy all the amazing things Europe has to offer. "
A student Middlebury College
"Cultural understanding, more fluid speaking, good break from home institution, good people and relationships, academics. VERY worthwhile."
A student Middlebury College
"Living in a European city was a great cultural experience."
A student Middlebury College
"I am happy that I chose to go to Prague because I was somewhat naive to its eastern European aspect and the environment that I lived in there definitely gives me a totally different perspective on America and our history. If I had to reconsider what program I would go on, I think that I would have also looked into Copenhagen or ..."

"It made me really appreciate small school and made me realize that I want to continue school after undergrad and get a masters. Yes it was. "
A student Middlebury College
"Studying abroad in a foreign country, especially in a city, required me to be so much more independent. Traveling through so many different parts of Australia, as well as New Zealand's south island, was a great experience too. Definitely go to New Zealand and Cairns (near the reef and rain forest) if you can, they were probably ..."

"Absolutely worthwhile. Came out a changed person for the better. If you're considering going abroad- GO."
Emma Shumway Middlebury College
""Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves ... Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you wil..."

A student Middlebury College
"We all learn about the world, but it is a privilege to get to experience the world. "
A student Middlebury College
"Yes it was definitely worthwhile. I loved being able to experience a new culture. Although the U.K. is similar to the US it is by no means the same. Even being able to experience living in the city was amazing and different."
A student Middlebury College
"I took engineering courses and gained valuable engineering skill. However, I didn't enjoy some of the broader courses as much as specific courses that were closer to what I study in my major."
