Baylor University
University Information
Baylor students are eligible to study abroad with a GROUP STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM or an EXCHANGE/AFFILIATE PROGRAM. Both types of programs are available in the summer and during the semester, some for a full year. It is possible, and encouraged, to study abroad more than once during a student's Baylor career and students may choose any program that interests them. Each program has a faculty or staff member who oversees the program and will be able to answer any specific questions a student might have.

"It is good to be quiet and observe, being a good listener is very helpful. Dress modestly and behave in the same manner. I learned a lot about the Muslim Religion and their customs. My experience in Egypt was wonderful, everything I could have hoped for. I truly wish the University did not find it necessary to keep closing f..."

"Definitely! I got much better in Korean and learned much about its culture. It also was well programmed, which allowed me to take classes I need for my classes."

"Now I want to travel all over the world. Learned how to "go with the flow" not take everything too seriously."
Alexandra K Baylor University
"Had more confidence using the language. Definitely worth my time."

"I learned that people are people everywhere and there is not right or wrong way to think, live or act. It was definitely worthwhile"

"Londoners love their drink and it is very cold and dreary there. As I thought, it was a great place to travel from, but it was expensive to cross the Bering Straight. I wish I'd chosen somewhere that spoke another language for a greater adventure-- somewhere in Europe that was warmer and central to all the locations I wanted to ..."

"I ultimately learned French, which was the goal. As well, I made a lot of international friends and had a chance to see cultures that weren't mine."
A student Baylor University
"It was incredible. I learned how to make mistakes, how to travel alone, how to communicate and be ok with taking time to learn. I talked to people from all over the world, and learned so much from everyone I talked to. "
Dayton Y Baylor University
"I learned a lot about the culture of Japan, which was one of the main reasons that I had for going. But I also learned what it was like to be alone in a foreign country and take care of myself. You meet a lot of new people, and you learn from each others' experiences. "
Margaret D Baylor University
"Due to the fact that I only had class 3 times a week, I had to administer a way to study, travel, and have an active social life. Thus, in its own way, I learned some valuable time management skills."
A student Baylor University
"I learned a lot about myself and made some amazing friends. It wasn't as cushy as some study abroad programs (which I observed when visiting friends in Italy and Spain and they complained about their "tough times") but it was definitely enjoyable. I feel more confident and also more comfortable using my arabic. "
Hallie M Baylor University
"I learned so much it is hard to put it all in words. My experience was 100% worthwhile and I would do in again and recommend it in a heartbeat. I learned about myself, about other cultures particularly those of the Nordic region, about Computer Science and what aspects interest me and which do not, about cooking, about living on..."

"I learned that relationship with Jesus is crucial when abroad and that I am a capable and independent individual. Yes."
Sydney F Baylor University
"I learned that sometimes things will not go your way, but you need to look at the bigger picture. "
karisa.garner.3 Baylor University
"I learned how to better adapt, appreciate differences and changes, manage independence, and see life through so many different perspectives. Cliché, but easily one of the best experiences of my life."
Mary A Baylor University
"Everything? Can I just say that? Of course it was worthwhile, I learned so much and came back a very different person. I'd rather not spend the next two hours talking about the almost infinite number of things I gained and learned from the experience, also, most of these things are indescribable, so I'll stop there."
Zachary B Baylor University
"Other than huge progress in French, wherever you are, it is what you make. My time there was one of the hardest things I've ever done and I wanted to give up so many times but you have no choice but to put one foot in front of the other and make the best of the situation."
Taylor N Baylor University
"Seeing how other countries run their businesses and the different aspects of how the meetings were handled provided invaluable experience. It was definitely worthwhile and had a ton of fun to boot!"
A student Baylor University
"I gained a much more intimate knowledge of German culture, language, and everyday life, and I got to travel around the country and see things I'd dreamed of for years. It's an wonderful country filled with wonderful people, wonderful food, and wonderful sports. The environment nearly made up for a dismal educational experience i..."
Conner M Baylor University
"Goodness, I learned SO much from my experience abroad. I learned so much about South African culture, a lot of European countries' cultures, and people around the world. I learned what it's like to not have water nor electricity for hours. I learned how to love people deeper and wider, and how to appreciate every small detail of..."

"Just because of the two classes I listed earlier it was hell. The program itself is great and I had some good times, although it was almost not worth it because of my class schedule"
A student Baylor University
"I improved my Spanish-speaking level and am now able to have educated conversations in Spanish. Also, I learned about the Argentine culture and the differences among different Spanish-speaking countries. Yes "
A student Baylor University
"I learned so much! About the world, about people, about myself- I don't think everything I learned would be able to fit in the expanse of this box. Yes it was worthwhile. Even with the hiccups and the problems, I would do this all over again. If I wasn't graduating in december, I probably would. I am already thinking of ways to ..."

"How to fake it till you make it with confidence. Absolutely worth it. I'd do it a hundred times again. "
A student Baylor University
"While abroad, I was exposed to a whole new world that did not resemble my conservative American background. Studying Spain allowed me to experience how people in another country live on a daily basis. Coming from America, I think we assume that our realities are representative of the rest of the world. This is not the case, and ..."
