Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.
Study Abroad with Direct Enrollment/Exchange
"I mean it had it's up and downs, but it was a definite worthwhile experience."
Thongvilay N The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned a lot about different cultures and interacting with different people while I was abroad. I also learned a lot about myself. I think the experience was absolutely worthwhile. It really was a once in a lifetime opportunity. "
A student The College of William and Mary
"I learned how large the world really is. I have always lived in Columbia, SC which is relatively small and while I had traveled while growing up I was not prepared to truly live in a city of millions of people. I think this aspect of my trip was the most eye-opening of all the things I experienced. I would say that because of..."
Michael H Presbyterian College
"Going abroad was a hugely rewarding experience. I was in a more independent living situation than at my home university. I had to learn to take care of myself and manage money. My travels provided me with unforgettable cultural experiences and introduced me to lifelong friends. "
A student The College of William and Mary

Lars H Guilford College
"Cultural differences. "
A student Illinois State University
"I gained a lot of confidence in myself and my ability to plan for travel. I learned to manage money on a budget. After my experience abroad I have more confidence in crowds in my ability to contribute to groups of friends and peers. "
A student Presbyterian College
"I learned so many things about the way the world works and how if we are interacting internationally we cannot assume that someone knows what we are talking about: because there are truly fundamental/core ideologies that differ depending on where someone lives and experiences life. This trip taught me a lot about tolerance and ..."
A student Guilford College
"I learned that I made all of my international friends before I left home by helping them with their study abroad experience at my university. The best times I had abroad were the times I spent visiting them in their cities. I learned that I don't know how to make new friends when I have nothing to offer them."
Thomas M Presbyterian College
"I learned so much about myself. I learned that I want to see the world and live in different places. "
oriannat University of Wisconsin - Stout
"I could have tried to put myself out there more, as I'm not naturally very outgoing, and that limited my enjoyment of daily life in a new place. However, I don't regret going, as I got to do some great things."
ckfulford The College of William and Mary
"I learned a lot about where my family came from and all the beauty the country held. It was definitely worth it!"
A student Illinois State University

"This program was much more user friendly then others I have used. "
Caitlin c SUNY - College at Cortland
"I became more confident being on my own and meeting new people. It was absolutely worthwhile, and the best experience I could have asked for. "
A student Villanova University
"I became much more independent from this time abroad. Spending a whole year away from home is a much different study abroad experience than most people will have; you truly feel like a part of the community while still holding on to your American roots. My German definitely improved, but I know if I would have made more of an ..."
SImone S The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned to be more understanding of others, open minded, and just continued to expand my borders. It was definitely worthwhile. I know this exchange and internship experience will help my network, language skills, and future job prospects. Pieces of my reviews may have been a bit harsh, but that is just due to my high level..."
Saul T The University of Texas at Austin
"I learned to be more independent because I had to figure it out by myself. The experience was worthwhile and I would love to be able to do it all over again "
A student Tulane University
"I learned how to teach myself, as learning was very personal, not interactive, at SOAS. I learned how to take advantage of the city I was in and all it had to offer.I learned how to travel effectively and use the knowledge I gained in my studies elsewhere. I learned how to deal with difficult people to live with. "
A student Wellesley College
"Worth every cent! "
A student Illinois State University
"The experience was most definitely worth it, I have always wanted to study abroad and finally doing so was a dream come true."

A student Illinois State University
"It was worthwhile in that I traveled out of England as much as possible, which was relatively easy since it's so close to the continent. I learned that I really don't like living in England."
A student The University of Texas at Austin
