Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"During my semester I got to experience another culture and a different type of learning environment. It was definitely worthwhile. It was the perfect Febmester experience. I got to travel and start school when my other friends were. Also coming here, starting classes again was not as scary as it was for other Febs who hadn't..."

"I definitely learned about being frugal and saving money only for necessities, however, I found that the costliness of the UK (specifically London and surrounding areas) made it difficult to fully explore and enjoy my trip. So I would say that lesson wasn't entirely worth it."
leighleeful Wellesley College
"I learned a lot about Irish culture and learned about environmental issues as they perceive them in my classes. It was defiantly worth my time because i can bring that perspective back to America. "
Carley B Truman State University

"See problems through different perspectives and cultures. "
Hua Wen R University of California - Riverside
"I learned a lot about being on my own in a big city. I loved London, it is now one of my favorite cities. Although classes did not meet as often as they do at Middlebury, I had a lot of free time to enjoy myself abroad and I really got to know London well. "

"Learned a lot obviously (impossible to list it here) especially about cultures (e.g. Swedes don't look nice, but they are very nice), weather, transportation, and food (Swedes coffee/tea drinking habits "fika" is awesome, it's a great habit), I think. Something worth saying: befriend locals. It's very tempting to spend all your ..."
FERNANDO M The University of Texas at Austin
"It was very much worthwhile. I gained greatly improved spanish skills, incredible travel experiences, good friends, a great relationship with a host family, deep cross cultural experiences, and new understanding. Also gained more simplistic perspective of what one needs in life."
A student University of the Pacific
"Looking back, I'm not sure if I would have studied at St. Andrews for my Febmester. I think that I would have really enjoyed doing a backpacking trip in Asia or South America because I had spent time in Europe before doing my Febmester and it would have been great to try something different. I made some really great friends,..."

"I had th opportunity to practice my Arabic though I spoke a different dialect than Darija, the Moroccan dialect. I even managed to pick up a little French. Given the cheap transportation costs, I was to travel extensively throughout Morocco and see some amazing historical and cultural sites. I even got to go to swim in the Atla..."

"How to shop/cook for myself. So much in general about different types of people. Traveling to several different countries allowed me to take a look at other cultures, which in my eyes is one of the most worthwhile things you can do. "
A student Bentley University
"I learned how to work as an artist on my own. It was worthwhile but the school while offering the facilities did not give us much guidance or assistance in making use of them. The classes were not as thorough as my home institution. "
A student Middlebury College
"That I should have gone somewhere that spoke a different language. I also learned a lot about traveling and myself. "
madeline.furlong Wellesley College
"It was worthwhile in that I gained a lot of life experience and independence, but I wish I had had a little more connection to the community. Perhaps it's because UCL is such a large institution, but I never really developed a sense of community with the students in my class or the department I was a part of, so I was less inves..."
anniepology Wellesley College
"I didn't really care for the school academic policies in certain departments in UCL; but life in London was worth it. Also I learned and read a lot. Academics were great, just the policies were uptight and strange for me, as an american"
keira k Wellesley College
"I learned so much about British culture. I got to broaden my empathetic understanding of people my ages growing up on a different side of the planet. My love for travel was validated."
Samantha R Trinity University

Adrian W Trinity University
"I made lifelong friendships with people from all over the world that I would have otherwise not had a chance to meet. I learned that I really love to travel and learned how to be flexible in some areas and yet firm in my core beliefs. Rebecca Z Trinity University
"Living in South East Asia was a contextualizing, transformative, and enlightening experience. I was exposed to a part of the world I've has little exposure to.
