Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"A LOT"
A student Villanova University
"While I had previously studied the relationship between France and Spain and the Islamic World (i.e., North Africa and the Middle East), it was through this trip that I was able to witness the direct impact of these histories – whether on the physical cityscape or the national culture. I feel incredibly blessed that our group wa..."

"It was a transformative experience, and one in which I got to meet the most amazing friends imaginable from all around the world. I starting to learn a new language, one that I will be able to continue using back home. It also allowed me to view my studies and future in a new light. "
A student University of Maine - Orono
"I gained a LOT from going abroad and emphatically recommend it to anyone thinking about it. I learned about who I was outside of being an academic, which was really important new information that I wouldn't have received at my home university. "

"Because I had much free time outside of the architecture school, I got to work out, go to activities/events I was interested in, get to know people, and explore Ireland a lot. The course load was not too heavy, so my time at UCD feels more like a gap semester than college. I really appreciate the chance to escape the "big bubble..."
Ke Yu Middlebury College
"I got a sense of confidence and a good sense of self while I was abroad. I realized that I'm tougher than I give myself credit for, and that I know more than what I gave myself credit for. I was able to reevaluate myself and what I was studying in a different setting and more than the just the courses themselves, I was able to r..."
A student Wellesley College
"It sounds very cliche, but I definitely gained independence from this study abroad trip. Going into it I was excited but also very worried that I would feel lonely, being many miles away from my family and really anyone that I knew. I learned that it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be to make friends and put myself o..."
Maura Sticco-Ivins Wellesley College
"Living in a city was certainly a challenge but it taught me how to be more independent and take advantage of my environment. London is a great city and there was always more to do each day. "I make breakthroughs with my art because I was allowed to focus intensely on it and pushed to experiment and explore new methods and mediums. Even more importantly, I learned a lot about myself - about my likes and dislikes, and what I want out of life. I also gained some pretty awesome friends. A worthwhile experience that test..."
A student Drury University
"This experience was worthwhile. Even though it wasn't always the most carefree or fireworks amazing experience, I still met some great people and enjoyed my classes and feel like a part of the community. Most importantly though, it all depends on your outlook and how you approach the situation. If you wanna sit in your room and ..."

"The world is a beautiful place. I learned a lot about geography. I met people from countries I did not know they exist. I learned a lot about different cultures and learned about social issues that affect other parts of the world.
