Overall Experience
I learned a lot about myself on the trip and it made me really consider how I wanted to live my life after the trip ended. - Berea College View Entire Review
My Japanese language ability grew a lot. I feel far more comfortable speaking Japanese. Beyond that it is hard to describe with words how rewarding, invigorating, and splendid it was to be a part of this program. I almost feel honored to have been able to take part. You really get to feel as if you are a student living in Japan.... - Northern Arizona University View Entire Review
I learned to be more independent and I feel that I grew as a person. I learned how much I truly loved Japan and it inspired me to come back again to study and work there in the future. - Texas A&M University - College Station View Entire Review
I have always wanted to study abroad in Japan and after doing it I am going back to work after I graduate. One year is simply not long enough. If you have the chance to study abroad, definitely take it. - Miami University of Ohio View Entire Review

About

The Osaka/Kobe program allows students to concentrate their studies on Japan and its language, culture, and society, or broaden their East Asia focus through additional study of the language and society of nearby China or Korea. The program aims to promote a better understanding of the cultural, religious, social, economic, and political aspects of Japan and its neighbors. Classes are small, the homestay program is well-established, and a variety of activities both on and off campus are readily available. You may choose to stay for a semester or a full year. Japan is a fascinating country rich in culture, history and a diverse environment; the combination of which produces one of the most distinctive societies in the world. The Kwansei Gakuin University Japan and East Asia Studies Program (JEASP) is designed to explore this fascinating country within the larger context of East Asia. USAC students attending this program have the unique opportunity to study and live in a culturally rich city.
