I learned a lot about myself as a person and traveler. I also learned a lot about how to make new friends, submerge myself into another culture, how to be more easy going about situations, and what to do in strange situations. It was definitely worth every penny! Samantha S - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
I learned so much from my time abroad. I was able to observe the differences in culture, especially in verbal and non-verbal communication. I learned a little bit of Italian. I also learned a lot about myself. When you're in a different country with 18 others, you learn about yourself as an individual, your thoughts on the world... I wanted to gain a better understanding of different cultures, traveling in Italy was worthwhile because it allowed you to have the experience of being a minority in a culture Randi H - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review

I learned how important it is to experience other cultures outside of my own. It was worthwhile, and I am very appreciative of where I live and my life in Iowa. A student - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
I learned how to interact with people of a different cultural (Italian) although some of them didn't know any English. I also learned how to be very responsible because I had a lot of freedom on the trip to do what I wanted. Tayler H - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
It was my first time abroad, so I learned a lot on this trip. I learned about the Italian culture, which made me realize some things about our own culture. Also, I learned that I cannot wait to travel again! This experience was definitely worthwhile! A student - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
I learned how to navigate in multiple cities using the metro, walking, buses, and water taxis. I also learned a lot about what Italian culture is like and how my culture compares. This trip was definitely worthwhile and I would highly recommend it to any student who enjoys traveling and experiencing new things. A student - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
The cultural experience was worth everything. We were able to interact with the Italian culture, and compare/contrast to our own. Alex P - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review

My experience abroad was most definitely worthwhile! Having Italy as my classroom was amazing! Interacting with Italy and the Italians was a very enjoyable and memorable way to study. I got a look at and feel for how another culture and it's society function. It helped me understand the basis for our American culture and soc... I had a chance to see what it was like being in a country where you do not know the language and having to adjust to the culture of others. Alicia H - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
I learned that seeing sights can lose its luster after a week or two. It was worthwhile because we saw so many places. But interacting with locals would have given us more experience with the culture, instead of just seeing the sights that all tourists see! But we had the time of our lives at each place! I gained a stamp on my passport. It was worthwhile in the sense that I got to see a new country. It was not worthwhile in the sense that I didn't learn much about the culture, or any of the sites we visited. A student - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
I learned to go with the flow. You are in a different country and there is not much you can do when something goes wrong. It was 100% worthwhile. I would do it over again in a heartbeat! A student - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
I learned a lot about cultural differences, such as everyday language and non verbals. Compared to those in the U.S., Europe is very different from us. A student - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
I loved Italy, but I definitely take US luxuries, such as public bathrooms, variety of food, free water, etc, for granted. Besides that, the culture and history that Italy has to offer was unbelievable. Sophia G - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
Yes, the program was definitely worth while, I just wouldn't do it again because I would want to go somewhere different. But the program itself was great and I learned a lot just from exploring on my own and interacting with the culture and people as I went. Stephanie P - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
A new appreciation of non-American culture. It was definitely worthwhile. A student - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
It was very worthwhile - I learned a lot about the Italian culture and how different, yet similar it is. I learned how big, but small the world really is. I learned I want to travel more! It opened my eyes to all that's really out there. A student - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review

Yes, I know I learned things that I would not have been able to learn at UNI or anywhere in the United States. Cristy S - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
It was definitely worthwhile to be able to see how people live across the world; it helped me realize the things we all have in common and the things we view differently, even in the modern age. I would love to be able to travel to Europe again to visit other countries--you can always learn something from traveling! Clarissa M - University of Northern Iowa View Entire Review
