Living with a host family was an incredible experience. I was able to really practice my French comprehension and speaking skills, but I also got to be exposed to true French culture and form long-lasting relationships with my host parents and siblings. The city was youthful and vibrant and gorgeous — already itching to go back! Dalya K - Brandeis University View Entire Review
Worth every second. I gained confidence, independence, flexibility, and language fluency. A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned so much about French language and culture living with a host family and taking French classes, while making close American friends and having the support of a strong program. I directly experienced the political world of France, studying at a time when gilet jaunes were protesting frequently, but I always felt safe and... A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review

I learned that I was more capable than I thought- that I could live in a country that did not speak English and that I could work through a language. I would not have traded my semester abroad for the world. A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review
It was definitely worthwhile. I am much more comfortable with my language use and I know that I can easily communicate what I want in French now and be understood. A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I made friends that I hope to keep in touch with and had a lot of fun. It was very much worthwhile. Also my language proficiency grew exponentially. A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review
It's hard to take it all in at this point, and see how it will affect my future. But as a cultural anthropology and french major, I LOVED getting to live what I have been studying - people and their languages. I got to live that: eat their food, drink their wine, run around their neighborhood with my host dad, see my host brot... Lauren B - University of Arkansas - Fayetteville View Entire Review
I learned to embrace alone time and to enjoy the small things. I learned a lot about myself and others. It was definitely worthwhile. A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review
Besides learning French, being abroad pushed me to learn how to be more independent whether that is keeping track of my spendings, navigating through a foreign city, or learning how to balance school and social life. A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review
Patience in nuanced cultural differences, complete fluency in the french language, an appreciation for a more old-fashioned, graceful and conservative culture. It was absolutely worth while but not at all what I expected it to be. Yvette Smith - Brandeis University View Entire Review
I learned so much, Anything from the daily routines of my host family to the language itself, I learned to appreciate french food, culture, the language, and I learned im capable of so much more than I thought. Anya Engelberg-Nolan - Brandeis University View Entire Review
This was my first time living more independently (I don't really include living in a dorm). I learned to be more independent and confident in myself and my abilities. I began to feel more comfortable with my French. A student - Brandeis University View Entire Review

absolutely. I made my best memories and I learned perfect French. It was cheaper than many study abroad programs (although still expensive for me) Monica H - Pennsylvania State University - University Park View Entire Review
