Tufts Programs Abroad: Tufts in Madrid

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
The program was great, like I said before, deep cultural immersion with support from a helpful administration. My language skills improved significantly, to say the least.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Academics were easy but I still learned a lot.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Basically perfect; helpful, supportive.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Condo-style, nice room, great family.

Family good, location great, very satisfied.

* Food:

Family food great, local eateries cheap, good.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Program was great, set up a lot of stuff.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Very safe, health good.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 15 euro (about 20 bucks I guess) outside of travel expenses, and I traveled pretty extensively.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Traveling is cheap, but not free...

Language

Language acquisition improvement?

Once I got away from the other Americans my language began to improve significantly.
