A student studying abroad with Tufts Programs Abroad: Tufts in London - University College London
I learned a lot academically -- international business, corporate finance, graphic design, documentary film making etc. I also gained a keen knowledge of British culture and made life-long friends. - Tufts University View Entire Review

Tufts in London was an extremely worthwhile experience on a personal level and has allowed me to develop lasting friendships. - Tufts University View Entire Review
It was absolutely worthwhile!! I didn't like my academic experience, but that has little to do with UCL and a lot to do with the British education system in general. London as a city is amazing, except for the miserable winter weather. There are tons of diverse and interesting people in London, from everyone in the world, so you... - Tufts University View Entire Review
I gained so much self-confidence in my abilities to live far from home, in a totally different country and in a big city. - Tufts University View Entire Review

My study abroad experience was worthwhile. I gained a fuller understanding of European culture due to actually seeing it all, and talking with students who live in those countries. The travel and the people you meet are certainly the best parts. Oh, and living in London - fantastic for theater goers. Its interesting to see a... - Tufts University View Entire Review

This program is amazing, and I highly recommend it! I wasn't very impressed with the academics, but the travel experiences and everything absolutely make up for it. This was the best year of my life and one of the best decisions I have ever made - Tufts University View Entire Review

Yes, it was very worthwhile. I gained a lot of perspective on how other cultures function (London especially, but also from travel to other countries in Europe). - Tufts University View Entire Review

I've grown a lot. I've gotten better at putting my life in perspective (getting angry less), have creatively flourished, and have expanded my mind. It's cliche, yes, but it's true. Also, I had a ton of fun. I've said it over and over: best year of my life. - Tufts University View Entire Review

Go to London!! I had the most wonderful year at UCL. I didn't want to leave London, UCL, or the Dance Soc. I have plans to go back as soon as I am able, hopefully to study there- if not for a holiday. Academically, I was pushed to try different things, to consider different perspectives, to write differently, to incorporate ... - Tufts University View Entire Review
My everything was completely altered by this program. UCL taught me how to read, write, and experience academia in an entirely different way than I did before. This experience taught me how to navigate a city, how to cook like a real person and not just a student, and how to act in clubs and pubs and at high tea. I learned th... - Tufts University View Entire Review

With a majority of students coming from outside the UK, it was impossible not to leave SOAS with an incredibly global perspective. Since my time at SOAS I can't wait until I can get to Sub-Saharan Africa. It's clearly where I need to be heading with my life. - Tufts University View Entire Review
My study abroad experience was definitely worthwhile; I learned a lot about myself, and experienced a lot of different cultures. - Tufts University View Entire Review
UCL was an amazing experience. To study in a world-renowned university in the heart of one of the world's most cultured and cosmopolitan cities is a privilege. My only wish is that the programme had lasted longer. I hope to return to UCL in the near future as a graduate student, and to relocate permanently to London. - Tufts University View Entire Review

I'm so glad I did this program. I fell in love with London, and I'm probably moving back there when I graduate. While I had already traveled all over Europe, it gave other people a chance to do that. I learned that their system of education works best for me, and I'm going to apply to grad school there. I got to explore the ... - Tufts University View Entire Review

My study abroad was completely worthwhile. I had the best time of my life and had some amazing academic and work experiences there; I was able to do things (such as work at Parliament) that I would never be able to do otherwise and my classes were really interesting with amazing professors. About

The Tufts-in-London program, which enrolls up to fifty students, is completely integrated into University College London (UCL), the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), and Royal Holloway University of London (RHUL). University College London, founded in 1826, is the oldest, largest, and most distinguished college of the University of London. UCL was the third university to be set up in England, preceded by Oxford and Cambridge, and the first to admit students regardless of class, religion, race, or sex. With 22,000 students of whom approximately one-third come from more than 130 countries outside the UK, a faculty of more than 3,800 academics, and research staff in 72 departments, it is one of the most diverse universities in England. The college is also known for its strong scholastic tradition, and boasts 20 Nobel Prize winners among its graduates and past faculty.

SOAS is considerably smaller than UCL, with a student population of around 3,000, of whom approximately one-quarter are from outside the UK. However, since its formation in 1916, it has built an equally strong academic reputation as a world center for the study of an extensive range of subjects, including languages, concerned with Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
