What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned a lot AFTER the bad experience with the internship - had to solve problems while working and travellling - but sadly I dïdn't learn anything about I came for from the other side of the planet...AND PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR IT - SOME I DID GET BACK

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? None

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

As good as no mentoring for my son coming from high school and very interested in finding out and learning more about business and finance. Several interviews before he was accepted to the programme and we thought that the Interngroup was a serious provider for an internship and an intern/young person (19) coming directly from college witout any experience in that field...

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Little support to the student/intern from the administration and more to the mentor who really wasn't a mentor at all...

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Tiny rooms with shower in an area where nothing happens and even seemed to be a dangerours area. He moved after some weeks to the center of Melbourne and shared a flat with an other intern.

* Food:

Up to you... you make your own food in a kitchen you share with other interns...

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

not integrated

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

Not needed

* Safety:

Not a safe area

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

I was very motivated for this program - wanted to learn more about business and finance, which I was very clear on from the beginning. It was a small company and the owner had no time to mentor me and gave me dull tasks wich I knew from before. The mentor had huge experience in stock marketing and more, but he unfortunately he didn't take the time to teach me...

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Its expensive to live nearby or in a city like Melbourne

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? cant remember
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? make your own food and look after cheap but good food. Make food with other interns and share

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • Nothing
* What could be improved?
  • The company should be more quality orientated concerning mentors ability to teach young persons without any experience from studies and have social skill above all!!!
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Nothing - that was the main problem. I didn't learn anything knew.
