This program is not only about classwork, but everything else. Its the culture that you can experience from your everyday life counts. I learned about China outside of the classroom and thats the most wonderful part of this program. Beside Shanghai there are many great places to visit around Shanghai. The transportation is very ... I learned both academic and social lessons from this program. I advanced my Chinese language ability and learned some Chinese business. In addition, I also learned a lot social lessons like price, people, food, and, life in Shanghai. I think this is an awesome opportunity to learn about Shanghai and China. The Program overall has broadened my cultural experience for sure, and improved my conversational Chinese. It has made me aspire to one day work in a big city in China. Jaemin C - SUNY - Binghamton View Entire Review
This study abroad program was very disappointing in every aspect. The students' level of understanding of the language and culture was uneven. It was very helpful and worthwhile. The most important thing I gained from the program was the sense of family. Every night for dinner, you're eating out with others. During that time, you chat with them and learn about them. That is the essence of Chinese meals, family style. At home I just took that for granted, but after... About
This unique summer program offers students hands-on experience in business and marketing research in Shanghai. Shanghai is not only one of the key financial centers of the 21st-Century, it also is China’s major urban metropolis, the hub of China’s business, cultural, educational, and entertainment worlds. Fudan University, one of China’s most prestigious institutions of higher learning, has specially designed this six-week program for Binghamton University students. The curriculum includes rigorous courses in Advanced Chinese, Business Chinese, and a variety of Topics courses focusing on areas such as Hot Spots in the Chinese Economy, Chinese Business Strategies, and Business Case Studies, all to be taught in Chinese.
While students will have ample contact hours in the classroom, the centerpiece of the program will involve on-site, hands-on experience in off-campus businesses and real-life marketing research. This will allow students to employ both their Chinese language skills and their classroom-acquired knowledge of Chinese business and marketing to conduct interviews, collect data, and write research reports, which will be presented to the class at the end of the program.
