After my experience abroad, I gained so much confidence and want travel again. It was definitely worthwhile and want to tell anybody that is hesitant in going, they need to go. - Illinois State University View Entire Review

Worthwhile. I gained french, but could have been a little more rigorous. The professors were really good, as they are actually professors at science-po and the Sorbonne, but they had to "dumb" down their course material a lot to cater to the students. Many NYU students came in with a "do as little as possible" attitude which ki... - Tufts University View Entire Review

I'm glad I went, because I feel it forced me to grow up a lot, despite the fact that I already considered myself pretty independent, and I felt like I became much more independent and self-reliant while I was abroad. However, I didn't ENJOY it as much as I would have liked to, I felt like I was just getting by and making the bes... - Tufts University View Entire Review

About

Founded in 1969 as part of NYU’s Center for French Civilization and Culture, NYU Paris is at the forefront of French-American cultural exchange. The NYU Paris academic center is a newly renovated building near many French universities and the Luxembourg Gardens, located on the Left Bank. Courses are offered in numerous areas, including art history, cinema studies, history, literature, and politics. Two distinct programs are designed for students from various disciplines to take courses taught in English or French, based on their level of language skills. Students who are fluent in French may enroll in one or more courses taught in French at one of our affiliated institutions in the French university system, which includes the University of Paris I, II, VII, and X and at specialized schools (the Institut d’Études Politiques, the École Normale Supérieure, and the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales).
Various weekly activities allow students an opportunity to enhance their French experience. Most activities are included in the cost of tuition and include day trips to places such as Chartres, Giverny, and Versailles. Special events like wine and cheese tastings, film screenings, lectures and conferences, walking tours, and guided museum visits are also scheduled. NYU Paris makes reservations at special student rates for theatre, ballet, and opera performances as well as for special art exhibitions. Weekend excursions are organized to places such as Strasbourg, Brussels, and the Loire Valley. NYU Paris subsidizes some of these trips.
