Yes, it was definitely worthwhile!

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? None

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Very challenging, lots of independent work, tons of reading and writing. But it was so much fun and so rewarding to see my writing improve

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I got a single!

* Food:

Keble was a 10-15 minute walk away, so even though the food was good there, I ended up cooking for myself a lot. But a lot of other people in the program loved to cook too, so it wasn't bad.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

You really had to try to meet local students by joining clubs or activities since the program is all American students. But I know there were a lot of students in my program who made close British friends, so it's definitely doable.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

The people in my program really made it special. They are some of my best friends now. Oxford is such a cool place to be with so much to do.

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 40 pounds
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Budget before you go, and if you want to travel, book your flights in advance before they get expensive.

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • Great tutors
  • I loved the students in my program
  • Lots of reading and writing!
* What could be improved?
  • I wish there was another break- we got burnt out
  • Better resources for people struggling with mental health or other wellbeing issues
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? If you want to travel, you have to MAKE time for it. I traveled a lot, but I had to really plan, and my friends were all so impressed that I did. It's definitely doable, but you do have to make the effort to plan it all out so that you don't get behind on your work.
