About
The Middlebury School of the Environment is a summer environmental studies and leadership training program in Yunnan, China’s most biologically and ethnically diverse province. Students take three courses over the six-week summer session, investigating community-based sustainability initiatives in the rural and urban contexts of Dali and Kunming.
Nationally recognized environmental faculty and mentors lead the interdisciplinary courses both in and out of the classroom. Students participate in leadership training workshops and field experiences, learning from environmental leaders and NGOs to build a toolkit of leadership skills. In addition, students may opt to participate in a Mandarin workshop during the session.
