Limerick Ireland, Not Your Typical Ireland Experience Past Review

By (Business Administration, Management and Operations., Providence College) for

IFSA: Limerick - University of Limerick

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It has made me more aware of people in the world, and given me a different perspective on how I should live my life. I am definately more culturally aware and I am so happy I did this.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload was much less. They dont give any homework at all, but it is your responsibility to keep up with the topics of discussion and make sure you know what is going on in class. The teachers never check up on you, and most wont know who you are.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

They were really nice, but dropped the group of us off on campus, and left us on our own with pretty much no instruction.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

You get your own bedroom and bathroom which is really nice. It is also very safe here.

* Food:

We cooked all the food ourselves. I would recommend getting a group to cook with, it saves money.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The weekends to Belfast and Killary Adventure Camp were really great!!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I always felt safe, it's like PC. As long as your safe and aren't walking alone at night you will be completely fine.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Traveling from Ireland, since it isn't continental Europe, is a little more expensive, but always worth it.
