IFSA: Auckland - University of Auckland

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Definitely worth while, but it made me appreciate the american school system so much more. TU definitely has a much better sense of community

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Great school, rigorous courses but do-able courses, help available if needed! Auckland Uni was a commuter school which did make it more difficult to meet locals

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

IFSA Butler is the BEST program to choose if going to New Zealand. All my friends wish they had been with my program!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I loved flat life! If going to auckland, do NOT choose Unilodge- Parnell is the place to be! All the locals live there! Unilodge is 100% american.

* Food:

NZ is not known for their food...

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Lots of things to do, but can be hard to meet people as Auckland is a commuter uni.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I got strep during, and getting treatment was super easy. Right on campus!

* Safety:

Super safe!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Food was actually cheaper than here.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 50
