CIEE: Seville - Teaching Development

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
This semester confirmed that I want to be a teacher, it gave me valuable experience and opened my eyes to different types of teaching. I improved my Spanish so much, travelled Europe, and realized how many things I can do with my life. I want to return to Spain to teach English. I met some of my best friends and got to know myself on an entirely different level.

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? None

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • host family
  • Sevilla
  • teaching
* What could be improved?
  • academics- clarity in syllabuses
  • scheduling- last week was too crammed
  • more specific support with lesson plans
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? This program is designed for people who want to either teach Spanish or ESL (English as a second language), I knew I would be teaching English but I am not in school to be a language teacher. Therefore some of the instruction was helpful for my practica and interesting, but I expected there to be more instruction just about teaching other subjects.
