Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The grading system was slightly different. It was out of 20, but I did not know that meant a certain percentage was your grade. It is simply their scale and that a 10 out of 20 does not translate to an F! The coursework was more participatory and less busy work. Moved slower than in the states so we were able to grasp the concepts stronger.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Great admins! So very supportive and involved in how our program was going. Always checking in and letting us know what was going on in Paris each week. A very small group of students for the August program so you get more attention, plus Paris is much less busy then.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

We had to bring sheets and lived in basically the suburbs of Paris, yet still within the main part of the city. It was like living a normal life in Paris. I absolutely loved it. The metro station wasn't far to take us to clubs.

* Food:

I'm not really into French food, but the Rue du Mouffetard was near our apartment and had awesome Italian and Chinese food. Plus great french pastries and crepes.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I thoroughly enjoyed simply taking in the tourist spots of Paris and lying around in the parks. We also made a trip down to Nice on a 3 day weekend. And up to Honsfleur another, it was great!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I had a bad rash and just went to the pharmacy, they are so much more knowledgeable there. Overall that was it! Paris is safe, even walking alone at night. Just keep to yourself.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

I practiced with my peers from all around the world and in the classroom we could only speak French. Many spoke English as a second language, but it was not allowed in the classroom.
