My Unforgettable Trip to Spain Past Review

By (DePaul University) - abroad from 10/03/2016 to 12/22/2016 with

CEA CAPA Education Abroad: Madrid, Spain

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
This experience was very much worthwhile. I learned a lot about myself in the course of the two and a half months that I was abroad. I stepped out of my comfort zone on many occasions and took on opportunities that I never thought I would. I became a lot more independent and open to new things after this trip , which I believe are valuable gains from this whole experience. I would go back in a heartbeat to continue my Spanish adventures if I had the chance.

  • Organization, if anything
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I had known more about the country itself and maybe more history prior to going. It is always beneficial to have an idea of a given place, you feel more confident and know exactly what to say when asked about your host country. Also, any traveling, packing, and cultural tips would have been great. I decided to figure everything out from personal experience; however reading or learning from other individuals would have been a good idea as well.

The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer
Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
