Boston University: Dublin - Internship Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
This program is the cream of the crop as far as study abroad programs go! I made so many American friends and had such a great time traveling all around not just Dublin but all of Ireland as well. The internship phase is awesome because it gets you into the Dublin city life and culture each day! I would highly recommend this program to anyone interested in a smaller study abroad program with wonderful things to offer!

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Much easier course load than Trinity University. Pretty much one paper and one final exam per course and they don't require much time. The professors are very understanding that you are in Dublin to learn the culture, not just study.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Mary is the BEST!

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

You are in charge of cooking/buying your own food, but the apartments all have furnished kitchens.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Never felt unsafe anywhere is Dublin, even at night.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Dublin is pretty expensive so it is good to plan ahead and pay attention to how much you are spending each week.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? $150-$200
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Factor in that you will need to but 100 euro bus passes (1-2) during the semester for travel to your internship. It's not included in the program cost.
