Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The program directors were above and beyond caring. They always made themselves available to help you. Everyone on our trip loved them.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in a student dorm off campus.

I really liked living in the dorm because I was able to meet French students and International students. I also really liked the independence I was able to have and never had to worry about coming home late and disturbing someone, canceling on dinner and being rude, or being too messy.

* Food:

I purchased my own food from a grocery store, so I ate french food, but it was stuff I liked.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? I chose one of the least expensive programs, so I didn't think the program cost was too bad. And I just always tried to keep good judgment and a budget in mind when it came to frivolous spending.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Beginner
What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? FR 316K; 4th semester French
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

Try not to speak English with anyone who speaks French. It's hard at first, because it's easy to revert back to English (and people like to practice their English), but it pays off in the end.

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? Select living in the city- everything happens there. The suburbs are too far away, boring and the buses stop early.
