Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"It has been almost 6 months since I returned from Aix, and I still think about it on a daily basis!! Studying abroad in Aix through IAU was definitely the best decision I have ever made. I saw so many incredible cities in Europe, but was always happy to return to Aix at the end of each trip. It is a beautiful city, has great peo..."

"I learned to deal with disappointment! No, but seriously, I don't take any of our simple freedoms for granted anymore. I've also really learned to be patient, as everything took longer over there. It was worthwhile on a language level, but the experience was not exactly enjoyable. "
A student University of Maine at Orono
"I learned about how the higher education is in my country. Yes, it is worthwhile."

"I learned that other countries aren't just places to be visited and explored, but that other cultures can be integrated into my personal experience and become a part of who I am. Traveling doesn't just provide voyeuristic opportunities, or chances for vacation; it opens up the possibility of living in different places and in dif..."

"I learned that I do not travel well and can't really be alone in unfamiliar places. I also learned that I can't be too far from my family or the ones I love (I was very homesick) "
Nicole B University of Maine at Orono
"So much. I learned new ways of understanding people given that I didn't always speak a language in common with the people I met (other than German, which we were learning). I learned most of all that people are always going to be people, and that we are all more or less the same no matter where we grew up when you get down to ou..."

"I gained an understanding of the world outside of the united states. I really enjoyed my experience, but it is hard to say if it was worth essentially missing a semester of classes at home."

"I had the opportunity to interact with international students and learn from their perspective about business matters. Also the opportunity of interacting with different professors who have been part of the business world and learn about their views made my experience worthwhile. "
A student University of California - Merced
"Was it worthwhile? Ridiculous. It was worth every last second. I learned how feel comfortable chatting in Chinese with complete strangers, bargain like no other, and to take things in stride, both the surprising, shocking, and extraordinary, and take none of it for granted. "

James B University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
"Everything was worthwhile! I definitely learned how to be more flexible with my studies, and i met so many different people! Usually, I met with friends that tend to be either co-workers or classmates. However, studying abroad, I met a HUGE variety of people of different backgrounds and of different majors. "
Stephanie C University of California - Merced

"From this experience I learned a lot about my ancestors, heritage, and the Greek culture. I learned about the language, food, dancing, and people.
