Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"My experience abroad was incredibly worthwhile, and has inspired me to want to live abroad in the coming years. I learned so much just from being on my own in a foreign city. I gained a lot of insight from being in the middle of the city and getting to experience all of the culture. "
Leigh N Wellesley College
"I gained a sense of self worth and independence. I was abroad for the first time without a 'program' or even friends and I thrived. I gained a new global perspective and went native. Overall, I'm glad that I didn't do the traditional study abroad experience. I got to truly know the place I was staying and I was able to fully..."

"Learned so much about people from other countries, not just local students, but international students as well. Hong Kong is a great place to get your travel on, and great for food and sucking in culture; completely worthwhile."
victoria.montalvo The University of Texas at Austin
"Over the course of the trip I learned what I can handle and what I can't handle. I was able to clearly establish my comfort zone and stay within it with no guilt whatsoever. I only did what I was comfortable doing and I always moved at my own pace. I learned that it's ok to establish my own boundaries and stand by them. I also l..."

"I learned that I can go into a city where I knew no one, find my way around, and learn to love a city I knew nothing about. I found groups of friends and was willing to take advantage of opportunities. I learned to take risks and be vulnerable. "
A student Wellesley College
"I had a wonderful experience in Ireland-- it had more to do with travel and experiences than it did with actual courses of study, but I'm okay with that. "
A student Wellesley College

"The experience was completely worth while. I learned the importance of truly understanding a different culture in order to comprehend the pros and cons of being American. A student Bentley University
"Broadened perspective. Countless stories and experiences that I'd be kicking myself until I died if i hadn't done. It was the most worthwhile thing I have done since I learned how to read."
A student Bentley University
"I came into Ireland thinking that it would be very similar to the United States, and I was blown away by how wrong I was. From superficial things such as the accents, the food, and driving on the "wrong" side of the road, to deeper cultural aspects such as strongly rooted traditions and the importance of family. Traveling to oth..."

"I've been to Singapore many times before going to the exchange program, which was also the reason why I decided to study there. Being a tourist and actually live there is two completely different experiences. I met many friends from all over the world in Singapore. I learned about the cultures and exposed myself to different thi..."

"I learned so much about the local people and that not every country needs help from the more developed. I learned that they are capable of doing anything if they put their mind to it. I also learned how influential the U.S. is on so many countries. I learned to be more thankful for what I have. I learned about other cultures ..."
