Direct Enrollment/Exchange is a program provider offering 1869 abroad programs. Programs offered include Study Abroad, Internship, Volunteer, Intensive Language, Gap Year, Graduate Program, High School, Research, Online Program, TEFL Courses, and Adventure Travel abroad programs in 121 countries such as Spain, International Summer Schools, Turkey, and Slovakia.
Below you will find a directory of foreign universities and reviews from students who participated in an exchange, or in direct enrollment.
In a Direct Enrollment program, students have the option of applying directly to the university they wish to attend abroad. Students can go for either one or two semesters and apply using that university's application process listed for international students. Sometimes these students are called Visiting Students, Guest Students or Free Movers. At the foreign university, they will be supported by the university's office of international students, housed with other international students and have the opportunity not only to immerse in a foreign culture, but to do so with students from all over the world.
In an Exchange, you attend a foreign university and a foreign student attends your home university, a student swap for a semester or year. Your university will handle the details of the exchange, you just need to find the ideal foreign university. Hopefully the listings and reviews below can help you down that path. You will need to contact your university's study abroad department or your academic advisor for details on the exchange because the number of valid/active exchange partners may be very limited.

"Reflecting, there are no negative things that come to mind. Especially coming from Wellesley, I learned that there really is more to life than getting that grade or being in as many orgs as possible. It is absolutely worthwhile to get out into the world and experience new things. I learned to respect what I want out of life, and..."

"The six months I spent in Alcalá de Henares were among the most formative of my college education. After learning Spanish for years in American public education systems, where I could learn to read and write but not to speak with confidence, staying with a host family unable to speak English transformed my Spanish. It also trans..."

"It was very much worthwhile! I made friends that have lasted until today. I am now able to translate for Asylum victims at the local Detainee Prison. I am so much more confident in my abilities. I could not recommend this program any more highly."
Michelle S College of Notre Dame of Maryland
"On top of the usual "experiencing a new culture" line, I met some of the nicest and most interesting people I have ever come across. I lived in a dorm unlike anything we have in this country, where 150 people felt like a single family. It was a seamless transition into that family unit and I felt at home from Day One. I couldn't..."

"My Spanish improved immensely in such a short amount of time, and my subject classes were great as well. The film class in particular was an interesting insight into Spanish culture and 20th century history. Apart from the academic aspect, the program trips were a great way to see far-flung parts of Spain and meet locals. Finall..."

"Studying abroad in Alcala was the best experience of college, and one of the best decisions I have ever made. A small, charming Spanish town with a program that emphasizes language use. The directors and program staff were amazing and supportive, also very encouraging of us speaking in Spanish all the time. I met great friends, ..."

"I learned so much from being abroad. I loved that Alcala de Henares had the components of a smaller city yet was so close to Madrid, making travel easy and giving you the big city atmosphere when you wanted it. It was 100% worthwhile, and I can't wait to be back. "
A student University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
"I had already lived abroad several times but never in Spain. After leaving Alcalá, I was so comfortable with the language and people that I studied abroad again, this time in Madrid. After graduating I pursued a Masters in Madrid and have been living in Spain for 5 years. Had it not been for the program in Alcalá (and most impor..."

"It was definitely worthwhile. I learned how independent I am, how smart and resourceful I can be. I learned that new places and situations and people are things I crave, not shy away from or fear. And there is so much of the world out there to see and experience and explore. It was amazing."

"This experience was incredibly worthwhile! I learned about other cultures, my own culture, and German culture. Not all learning has to take place in an academic space, and my experience at Jacobs reaffirmed this. "
