Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Because the program is only six weeks, I had to read about a hundred pages for just one class in a week. Since I was on financial aid I had to take three classes. Therefore, I had to read about 200 pages each week for all three classes. The professors had a passion for the subjects they were teaching, and so it was a bit easy to grasp the understanding of the subjects. The days for exams were all in one day. It was difficult to study all three classes in only one week and take all the exams in one day.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

It was confusing when applying to the university. The directions were not clear on the website and because of the time difference and the international fee, it was hard to call them and ask for help.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The staff were unorganized and the night securities did not really know English, and so it was difficult to communicate with them. The dormitory life was unsanitary.

* Food:

The food was cheap and very delicious. The portion is small, but it keeps a person filled.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The Busan field trip was the best experience I've had, because the place was beautiful and I get to do a lot of sight-seeing.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Always go with a group of friends at night. Even though my host country was known for the night-life, there are some scary people wandering around at night.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Budget your money well.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? Beginner
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

I practice the language with my friends who lived in that country. I did had to use the host country language in everyday interactions. There were some people that understood English, but they would respond back in the host country language.
