About

Costa Rica is one of the most beautiful and rich countries in the world in terms of biodiversity and agricultural systems. In this study abroad you will have the opportunity to learn, visit, and get hands-on experiential learning, working with local producers and also with animals. You will learn the animal production systems in the tropics and also conservation programs for wild species while exploring beautiful landscapes and interesting areas of Costa Rica. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to be immersed in a rich culture, full of experiences and opportunities to learn!  During this program you will have the opportunity to visit three of the most renowned public Universities in Costa Rica, you will learn about animal sciences and veterinary medicine and their role to promote human and animal health, produce food in a responsible manner and also blend the agricultural systems with a laCAHNRS Scholarship Inforge bio-diverse ecosystems. You will also be able to enjoy the urban areas of Costa Rica, such as San Jose, Alajuela and Heredia in addition to the beautiful rural landscapes, such as Monteverde National Park, Volcan Arenal National Park, Puntarenas marine museum and more!  Describe and be able to integrate different concepts related to the use of animals by humans in different contexts.  Critically evaluate the animal production systems and use of information sources to promote and improve animal production systems in the tropics.  Engage in constructive discussions about international issues regarding animal sciences and veterinary medicine, in a professional, scientific and popular environment.  Describe the importance of animals and their use to alleviate world needs for animal products and also the role of animal scientists in international societies.  Outline the organization of international animal agricultural systems and current critical issues beyond the United States of America.  Learn about biodiversity protection programs in Costa Rica.
