About
Global aging represents one of the most important care challenges for developed countries. The wellbeing of older persons is highly dependent on systems of care and committed providers, but also on the broader cultural mileau. This 3-credit elective explores growing old in a cross-cultural context comparing the U.S. and Ireland/N. Ireland. During the 12 day study abroad students will visit nursing homes, adult day centers and community sites involving older adults. In addition, students will engage in various cultural activities such as the Giant’s Causeway and the Rock of Cashel.
