Webster University: Athens - Odyssey in Athens

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I wish I could do it all over again. The program and the people that I've met through it are great. This experience will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 0-2 weeks

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Teachers really understood that the study abroad students wanted to go out, explore, travel, and have a good time instead of staying indoors and writing papers. Much lighter work load and enjoyable lectures.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Staff was exceptional. Always there when you need anything. Dina is the best.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The apartments were good. Some better than others but the locations can't get any better.

* Food:

You cook for yourself or just do what I did and order out half of the time. Simply Burger is a must. Dina,the director of the program, did have a cooking class for the study abroad students and it was great.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Plenty of field trips. You go to places such as Monemvasia, Ancient Olympia, Epidavros, Mycenae, Delphi, and Sparta. The school also hosted welcome and going away parties for us.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Area of the school/apartments is really nice and I never felt threatened at any time.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Find good hiding places for your booze in the apartments(they check.....sometimes)Don't drink too much and have to be carried home...especially the first weekend there(Amy)! Go with an open mind and you'll have a great time.
