University of Wollongong: Wollongong - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I learned so many life experiences that would never be able to ever be taught to me in a classroom! I would easily study abroad again!

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I had a wonderful time being abroad! I had many great experiences, but the educational system that I had at Wollongong was not good at all and didn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to me.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

I did get help from an individual who used to be a part of the study abroad office at Wollongong, but when I sent the actual office an email, I didn't get a response.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I lived in Keiraview and loved it! I was right by everything I wanted to be by; I was right by the mall and a supermarket, next to the beach, close to a ton of eating places and next to all of the fun activities at night.

* Food:

I love food. I love any kind of food, so it was all good haha!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Meeting people in not only Wollongong, but Australia in general was extremely easy and fun! I felt like I was a part of their culture right away!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I had a really bad stomach problem while I was in Wollongong and I had to go to the hospital. It took so long...seemed pointless to even go.

* Safety:

I think Wollongong seemed safe...I have been abroad in other cities that are probably more dangerous and maybe that is why I thought it was good, but I had no issues with safety while I was there.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It was not very easy to live on a student budget. Australia is super expensive!

* Was housing included in your program cost? Yes
* Was food included in your program cost? No
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? ??
