Wellesley-in-Vienna Past Review

By (BIOLOGICAL AND BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES., Wellesley College) for

University of Vienna: Vienna - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I got to travel more than I expected and I have a fabulous internship, but honestly I feel like it was a waste of time. The quality of education here is no where near what it is at Wellesley and the fact that the program goes into June is ridiculous and cuts out a fair portion of summer internship opportunities.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? around 100 euros which is more than i was told to expect. the cost of living here is high and should be worked into the financial aide packet that the school puts together for the exchangers.
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Food here is not cheap. we were told to expect to spend 7 euros a day but in reality is more in the 10-15 euro range. none of us are extravagant, we eat mostly fruits and veggies from the local grocery discount stores, and yet its still that expensive. also not included in the estimates was the cost of transportation around the city, which amounts to about 200 euros in the semester.

What was the highest level language course you had completed prior to departure? 233 Berlin in the 20s.
