About
A growing city with a welcoming, small town atmosphere, Inverness city boasts an excellent range of restaurants, cafés, and pubs filled with an eclectic mix of traditional and international food, drink, and music.
Explore the traditional Victorian Market, more modern Eastgate Shopping Centre or support local at boutique shops for a bit of retail therapy. Catch a comedy act, film, musical or play at Eden Court and other arts venues. Or just wander through the stunning City Centre to the banks of the River Ness and through the Ness Islands.
A short drive will take you to the famous shores of Loch Ness, the stunning ruins of Urquhart Castle or the historic fields of Culloden Battlefield. Surrounding the city, there are no shortage of walks, cycles trails or hikes for outdoor lovers, not to mention sea kayaking, munro climbing and wild camping.
Just 15 minutes from the City Centre you will also find the two Inverness College UHI campuses. Our main campus, Inverness Campus, is a growing hub for research, innovation and enterprise with dedicated student accommodation. Our second campus, The Scottish School of Forestry, is set on campus of 10 hectares of woodland and is Scotland’s forestry and arboriculture educator provider, leading the country in practical training and research. Study abroad students are taught alongside local and international students, and more information on course selection and application procedures can be found on our website.
When students wish to explore beyond the Capital of the Highlands, Inverness Airport offers daily flights to London, Belfast and other major cities throughout the UK and an increasing number across Europe.
