What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
This was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I not only made good friends, but I got to experience a completely different way of life that is so much slower and thoughtful than my own I feel. I loved the food and the people. The entire experience was amazing.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

I was amazed by the level of teaching my Spanish professor, he was so helpful and taught in a way I have never learned before. I could really tell I was learning through practice. Luis never gave us answers, he would always tell us we knew the answers we just had to think about it. I think American universities should take this kind of outlook for teaching foreign languages. Instead of filling out worksheets or repetitive, silly dialogue we actually learned the language. I would suggest to anyone to take a course from that professor, as it was one of the most amazing Spanish classes I've ever had. Another awesome aspect of the class was that there were only 2 people (including myself) that were in the class. It was like having a private Spanish lesson every day.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

This was the most organized program I have ever experienced. The faculty was great and always so willing to help and everything was scheduled for accessibility for the students. So many different activities every week to participate in, no one should have felt bored or out of touch with their program.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

I loved my host mother and living arrangements. She was an amazing cook and there wasn't one thing I didn't like that she made. She always did my laundry in a timely fashion and didn't mind when I would go out with friends late at night. She supplied all the sheets and living arrangements that I needed. She spoke clearly for me so I could fully understand her. The location of my home was great and in a neighborhood with pedestrian walking only with many shops and grocery stores nearby, within a block or two. She was always so sweet to me and was only a bit upset with me once when I messed with the internet.

* Food:

I loved all of the food I had, but I'm not a picky eater.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

The program did a great job making sure we were entertained and had plenty of activities to partake in.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

I always felt very safe. There was never a time when I thought I was in danger. We were always very safe, as Sevilla is a city, we always walked in groups at night and never walked any where without telling someone.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

Practicing with a peer on a daily basis is a great help. Also speaking with native speakers occasionally will really help as well. Using the native language in a country is the best way to learn and build confidence.
