University of Northern Iowa: Sustainability Abroad Capstone

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was definitely worthwhile. I learned so much about how different other cultures are around the world. It was fun to experience both London and Wales because they are so different; they were a great contrast for each other. Birmingham University was a great college to visit and I learned a great amount of information on ways they are improving sustainability on their campus. It made me aware of what I can do as a student on UNI's campus to better our university.

A Look Back

* What did you like most about the program?
  • I was able to see lots of tourist sites while also learning a lot about sustainability and how we can use their ideas at UNI. We were able to see a lot and learn a lot in two weeks.
* What could be improved?
  • There were some issues with the study abroad center that cause us problems and they should have been figured out before the trip.
* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? I wish I would have researched more of the places we were going so I had some knowledge beforehand. I was also not prepared for the weather there and should have packed differently.
