University of Northern Iowa: Managua - UNI Social Work Capstone in Nicaragua, 1st session - May

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
My study abroad experience was absolutely worthwhile. As it was my first time out of the United States, it gave me a much greater sense of perspective in this world. It's taken me quite awhile to process everything I saw and experienced in Nicaragua, but I've loved being out of my comfort zone and forced to think about the questions the trip raised.

A Look Back

* What do you know now that you wish you knew before going on this program? If there's anyway you can fit this study abroad program into your schedule, do it. I was a little worried about being the odd man out (one of only two males, and the only business major). Those fears were quickly pushed aside. This was an incredible experience that (being my first time outside of the United States) has given me a much greater sense of perspective. It was a great learning experience.
