A difficult but overall very rewarding summer Past Review

University of Northern Iowa: Dongguan - UNI Summer Camp in China

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I feel I learned a lot about the Chinese culture through my students. If I had gone abroad just to sight see I definitely would not have learned so much. I feel like I gained a lot of insight to what it is like being a student in China. It gave me many new friends that I plan on staying in touch with.

The Nearly Native or Trail Blazer
Craving the most authentic experience possible, perhaps you lived with a host family or really got in good with the locals. You may have felt confined by your program requirements and group excursions. Instead, you'd have preferred to plan your own trips, even skipping class to conduct your own 'field work.'
