Teaching Kids in China was Rewarding Past Review

University of Northern Iowa: Dongguan - UNI Summer Camp in China

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I like everything we did and enjoyed working with the kids. However, I did not like the way the people at the school ran everything. They were very difficult and made our experience not as great as it could have been. I am disappointed that I payed the amount of money we did to be treated the way we were, it could have gone a lot better.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The workload was not too bad, good teaching methods from Yana.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Host school was not that great to work with.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

I didn't like much of the food there at all, but there are some good american places to eat at.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

All of the trips we took were cool, Hong Kong was probably one of the best. Climbing the Great Wall was the most exciting thing we did, to me.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Safety was fine, always felt safe. Good health care.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? No

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)
