Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

the teaching methods was not what i was use to but i was able to adjust and i learned allot both in the English class and in the Chinese class. learning Chinese is really hard but if take the time to sit down and practice how to wright the characters and talk to the native speaking people then you will understand and know how to communicate very well.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

i did not really like what the school's cafeteria had to offer so i went out to eat with friends around the campus. there are restaurants everywhere and it is not that expensive to eat the local foods which is really good. it is best to go out to eat with 4 or more people so you can split the bill.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

I was in the international singing competition but a friend and i danced and we won third place which was really cool. The international students that have been there for a few years was a big help because they had told me all the good spots to check out before i had left and really enjoyed everything that i encountered. Going outside of Beijing is wonderful because you get to see more of what china has to offer. Anything that the school puts on i advise you to check it because it will only open up your eyes to something new.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

in order to get around you yourself would have to know how to speak the native language or be with someone that knew how to speak it. majority of the people in china did not know english so, i had to emerge myself into their culture in order to get around the city, order at restaurants, getting on and off the bus and talking to the taxi drivers.
