Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

My classes were absolutely fantastic for the most part and I had some wonderful professors. There was one that did not allow for the fact that Spanish was a second language and really would not explain things well, but all of my other professors were great. The work load was manageable and I liked that we only had 2 grades - a mid-term and a final exam.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Since I did not go through Millersville University's program, they were unable to help me with more of the specifics. They did help me as much as they could though. My adviser was not part of the Study Abroad Program and was helpful when she was able to see me.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Again, I believe that a home-stay is a great option, my circumstance was just a bit peculiar.

* Food:

I am a vegetarian, but the woman who hosted me was one of the few in Spain as well, so it worked out really well. I also did not have a very hard time finding vegetarian dishes when going out to eat.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We took a guided trip to the Alhambra, which was definitely memorable. The guide was able to give us a lot of history and anecdotes and the fortress, which you can see from just about anywhere in the city, was amazing.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

I was able to practice a bit in class, but I had mostly American and English-speaking friends (since I was a part of the international school). I also was able to talk with my "host mom", but I was in an unusual circumstance, therefore we did not have as much interaction as many of my fellow students did. Being in Spain really helped me improve my listening/interpreting skills, but I could have used more practice with my speaking skills.

Direct Enrollment/Exchange
