University of Aberdeen: Aberdeen - Direct Enrollment & Exchange

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I think that you realize how independent you actually are. I also gained an understanding of different cultures. If you can handle studying abroad you can survive anything!

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

The grading is much more strict than it is at my home university, but with time management and effort, students can do well. Also, there is much less classroom time, most work is meant to be completed outside of class.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Basically, if you go to Aberdeen, you must rid your mind of the way and efficiency of the university systems here. Things get done at Aberdeen, but at a much slower pace.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

An amazing experience! I lived with Scots and international students. Just so so much fun!!

* Food:

go skip diving!

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Aberdeen is amazing! It is a great city and there is always something going on!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

very safe!

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Going out is really expensive, try to cook and drink at home!
