Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

My professor, Maite, was so amazing in every way. She was so knowledgeable and helpful in every area, whether it was a question about grammar or about the best local food. She was always willing to answer any of our questions and help us. The workload was expected as I did a 5 week intensive course and I learned so much from it.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The staff at Francisco de Vitoria were always so welcoming and friendly. They made us feel at home and were there whenever we needed them. They offered great advice on where to go, what to do, etc.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Carmen was my host mother and was an amazing cook. I lived in a flat in the center of Madrid, close to the metro. It was a great experience.

* Food:

Tapas are AMAZING! Expect lots of pork related food items! Definitely try the tortilla espanola and gazpacho. Lots of fruit is involved in their diet.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We went to Toledo for the day and it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Our tour guide, Mario, took us to Toledo and on day trips all around Madrid. He was a genius and knew everything!!

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

The biggest safety issue in Madrid was pick-pocketing. I use to take the metro by myself all the time and never ran into an issue.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
If applicable, to what degree did your living situation aid your language acquisition?

Language acquisition improvement?

I could practice language with the locals and my other friends on the trip. Yes, I needed to use Spanish in everyday situations and some people did understand some English.
