All in all, my experience was very worthwhile. I had a great time, met wonderful people, and my Spanish really improved. I love Chile. But, my time was not without difficulties. The students in my university were striking for education reform for about 2 months, at the end of the semester. Classes were cancelled. International visiting students share courses with regular students at Universidad de Chile, for one semester or one academic year, registering courses offered at any Faculty or Institute, according to previous university experience and level of command of Spanish, language of instruction. Each personal program of studies is determined once the student is in Chile and has been admitted in the selected courses.

The Spanish Program for International Visiting Students is part of the University of Chile's International programs and is organized by the Linguistics Department of the Faculty of Philosophy and Humanities.This program offers students the possibility of improving their command of Spanish, starting at a post-elementary level and extending through intermediate to advanced levels, while introducing them to the cultural background of Chile.
