People are really not that different wherever you go but customs are SO DIFFERENT. That's what makes traveling uncomfortable and awesome. - Tufts University View Entire Review
I loved this experience. It was great to try out a new culture and get a lot more comfortable with another language. The program through Tufts was great because they were really interested in helping us figure everything out without babying us. The resident director is great, as is the Tufts faculty advisor. - Tufts University View Entire Review

I was amazed at the amount I gained academically. I had the opportunity for original research, for teaching, and to push myself in classes. I grew immensely on a personal level as well, because it allowed me to see myself from a different point of view and in new situations. I am most proud of my accomplishments while living ... - Tufts University View Entire Review

My Spanish improved, I met new people, I learned a lot from my interactions with Chileans, I had a great internship experience in which I got to witness something I've studied firsthand. For me, it was a very worthwhile experience. - Tufts University View Entire Review

A new and interesting perspective not only on Latin America, but on my life here in the United States as well. I learned the important lesson that its perfectly healthy, and important, to make a fool of yourself! When you are out of your element you learn the most. - Tufts University View Entire Review

That is really hard to sum up in a few short lines. It was incredibly worth while and I learned A LOT. I guess in concrete terms my Spanish improved a lot, especially during the second semester. I got really good at planning trips and coping with foreign experiences. Overall it was a great experience, not because I had fun and e... - Tufts University View Entire Review
I think for me, my study abroad experience showed me what it is like to simply LIVE in another country, another culture, another language, another way of life. For me, it was extremely rewarding, exhilarating, sometimes frustrating, day-to-day and extremely new experience. I think I learned to accept that people aren't going to ... - Tufts University View Entire Review
I improved my language skills, got to know new people and travel around a new country, and now understand a different perspective. It didn't really changed by academic interests. - Tufts University View Entire Review
Yes. I cannot tell you what I learned. It is something abstract, but it was the catalyst for everything I accomplished my senior year and there after. - Tufts University View Entire Review
Yes, my study abroad experience was fantastic; I couldn't be more glad that I did it. - Tufts University View Entire Review

Yes! I had a great time in Chile. I would say that academically it was not as challenging at Tufts but that may have been a good thing for me. It gave me the chance to take a step back and think about other things for once. I had the time to explore other interests, make friends, and reflect on what I want to do. And when I was ... - Tufts University View Entire Review
I definitely think that studying abroad forced me to appreciate the wealth of backgrounds and experiences that different people have. I was once again shown the importance of patience and appreciation and the benefits of being laid-back¡ - Tufts University View Entire Review

About

Students in the program take regular courses at the University of Chile, choosing from the hundreds of courses offered at its various faculties. Full-year students may take courses at Pontificia Universidad Católica in the spring. Normally, foreign students take four courses a semester, chosen in consultation with the resident director. A Spanish language course equivalent to Spanish 121 is arranged for program students and is required, unless you are a native speaker or have already completed Spanish 121. If you are interested, you can also be placed in internships and community service positions. Evaluation at the two universities is similar to that at Tufts, including papers and exams.
