Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

A lot of work but definitely worth it. Learned a lot and had plenty of opportunities to apply my knowledge.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Wonderful student affair manager made us feel comfortable and welcome

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

Lived with other students in a camp owned by the school. Shared cabins with 3 other students. The camp has a walking trail and you can see Mt. Kilimanjaro.

* Food:

Plenty of food prepared by camp staff (although we were able to prepare meals for the group)

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

We were able to see a Maasai wedding, an ageset graduation ceramony where young men become warriors, and do a homestay with a family for a day.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Always felt safe and comfortable. There were clinics nearby if we did get sick.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Almost all in country expenses were optional, but there are plenty of opportunities to buy souvenirs (and practice bartering!)

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
How would you rate your language skills at the beginning of the program? None
Language acquisition improvement?

Learned basic Swahili which I could use to communicate with camp staff and people in the local village.
