What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
It was a good change of pace from a normal college setting- I was studying the ecosystem, culture and policy of the places in which I was learning.

The workload was lighter than at school but very different.

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

* Food:

Obviously there weren't the same options as in the US but I was always well fed, even as a vegetarian.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Interacted with local community and staff, enjoyed trips off camp several times per week.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Faculty and staff kept us feeling very safe.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? ATMs are available if you don't want to bring all cash (this is all covered in the field preparation guide though)

The program wasn't focused on language acquisition at all, but there was an intro Swahili course.
