The Intern Group: Hong Kong Internship Placement Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
Most certainly worthwhile. You'll learn so much about another culture, and most importantly a lot about yourself if you're open to the new experience.

Personal Information

How much international exposure did you have prior to this program? 2 weeks - 1 month

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

My internship wasn't so academically challenging but learning how an entire industry operates in a completely foreign country and how people communicate with one another provided me with one of the most unique educational experiences of my life.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

Very helpful and welcoming. Provided helpful advice whenever you need and constantly arranged for things to do in Hong Kong.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

It had everything I expected and needed from a serviced apartment. Great location.

* Food:

Wide variety of places to eat at and have some of the best restaurants in the world. Expensive tho

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

* Safety:

Had no issues - regarded as one of the safest cities in the world

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

Quite possibly the best experience I've had to date. It's hard for me to explain the feeling that goes into experiencing something so exciting and foreign at the same time, but I would highly recommend this program to anyone considering it and just take the leap of faith. You won't regret it.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

It is quite hard to maintain a student budget here, especially when you're trying to experience as much as you can.

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? 300 - 400USD

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? Yes
