The Intern Group: Hong Kong Internship Placement Program

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
I have definitely gained alot of social skills due to my multi cultural work place where I could meet people from across the globe. Furthermore I have gained many practical and organisational skills required at a work place. This experience have given me a lot of self confidence and thought me that initiative and hard work are key to be being successful.

Review Your Program

* Overall educational experience

Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc.

Working at a start up company is the best opportunity for anyone to obtain new skills and get challanged at a daily basis through an unprecedented degree of responsibility and self motivation.

* Host Country Program Administration

On-site administration of your program

The Administration Team of the Interngroup Hong Kong is tremendously helpful and pretty much available 24h whether this is during or pre internship.

* Housing:

How satisfied were you with your living arrangements?

The housing opportunity is well looked after and selected carefully by the team and definitly one of the better options within Hong Kong.

* Food:

It is Hong Kong, what can I say.

* Social & Cultural Integration:

How integrated did you feel with the local culture?

Locals in Hong Kong are extremely polite and friendly which many tranditions and customes.

* Health Care:

How well were health issues addressed during the program?

I broke my foot before my internship and had to go there with a cast on. It was very easy for me though to follow up with my treatment in Hong Kong. Both modern as well as traditional chinese medicine facilities are easily available.

* Safety:

Personally I feel very safe in Hong Kong, and I believe the crime rate and danger is extremely low unless you are a local gangster.

If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? Yes

The InternGroup Hong Kong has provided me with an outstanding program that made in many ways the impossible possible. At the point when I applied to the InternGroup I had already tried myself for over half a year to get an internship in Hong Kong and was unsuccessful despite all the hard work and effort I put in. However once the InternGroup stepped in, everything turned out to be quick and easy.

Finances

* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?

(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost)

Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? Maximale 500 USD
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? Don't go into the shops you are used from home. Chances are that these goods are being imported at a higher cost. Try local food shops and restaurants as this reduces the cost significantly.

Language

* Did your program have a foreign language component? No
