The GREEN Program: Peru - Water Resource Management & Sustainable Practices
It was 100% worthwhile. TGP has encouraged me to be more spontaneous, more environmentally conscious and more aware of the importance of sustainable development and technologies. Not only was I challenged academically and physically, this experience has allowed me to cultivate independence, better communicate, become more flexible as well as develop teamwork, time management and leadership skills.

Review Your Program
* Overall educational experience
Academic rigor, intensity, resources, etc. |
I’d never forget the passion, effort and time our professor and guides put into explaining the underlying environmental and social problems occurring in Peru. With their exceptional knowledge and enthusiasm in sharing their understanding of the country, we were able to explore the underlying issues and discuss innovative solutions. All lectures and outdoor classroom sessions were insightful and interesting. |

* Housing:
How satisfied were you with your living arrangements? |
All hotels we stayed at were unique, clean and provided everything we needed. |
* Food: |
The program had organised all our meals. We had many options throughout the trip and were able to try different traditional dishes. All chosen restaurants were very clean. |
* Social & Cultural Integration:
How integrated did you feel with the local culture? |
|
* Health Care:
How well were health issues addressed during the program? |
Towards the end of the trip, a handful of members felt unwell. However, the tour guide and TGP staff knew exactly what to do and were able to assist immediately. |
* Safety: |
Travelling in Cuzco felt very safe. Remember to follow the instructions of the local guide, TGP staff and university hosts. |
If you could do it all over again would you choose the same program? |
Yes
|
Finances
* Money: How easily were you able to live on a student's budget?
(1 = not very easy/$200+ on food & personal expenses/week, 2.5 = $100/week, 5 = very easily/minimal cost) |
Since you pay the program fee in advance, you don't need to bring a lot of money whilst abroad. You'll only need to spend snacks or little inexpensive gifts for family/friends. |
Not including program expenses, about how much money did you spend on food and other expenses each week? | $20 |
Do you have any general money-saving tips for future study abroad participants? | Try learn some Spanish. At local markets, they will tend to sell items for a cheaper price if you speak Spanish. |

Reasons For Studying Abroad
To help future students find programs attended by like-minded individuals, please choose the profile that most closely represents you. |
The Avid AdventurerThe wardrobe you packed was better suited for a semester of camping than club hopping. Outdoorsy, you might forgo a crazy night out for an early all-day adventure. You'd rather take in the rich culture of an old town than the metropolis of a modern city, but for you getting off the grid is ideal. |
